My name is Liz Raleigh and I am a sociologist and a faculty member at Carleton College. I believe in the power of learning from people’s voices and love interviewing people about their money attitudes and decisions. I teach classes about family, race, and immigration, so I think a lot about the complexity of people’s lives. I am eager to talk to you — yes YOU! — about your story. I hope you’ll reach out.

Research Ethics

I feel strongly that a researcher has the responsibility to go beyond just taking information from study participants. To prepare for this study, I have been deepening my knowledge of personal finance and am a Candidate for CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER© certification.

At the close of the interview, I am happy to share my favorite resources that provide sound and easy to understand general financial education. My goal is to help cut through the noise of misinformation online. It is important to note that I will not be providing specific financial advice.

If you decide that you want to end the interview for any reason, I am still happy to talk with you about general financial education topics.
